How to save MSG Outlook to Windows Mail?

To perform the given task, two methods are available

Export .msg to .eml using manual method

Using manual method, you can easily save MSG to EML format, but MS Outlook installation is required. Follow the below steps to save Outlook to Windows Mail EML format

• Step1. Open MS Outlook, then import MSG to Outlook using drag and drop method
• Step2. Go to “File” option and click on Save As option. Select the location where you want to save the file and enter a file name
• Step3. After entering a file name, you will see “Save As” type select Text only (*.txt) option from drop down list.
• Step4. Click on “Save” option
• Step5. Go to the location where you have saved the MSG file as text format and right click on the file, select rename option and change the extension of the file and use EML extension
• Step6. Right click on newly created file, select “Open with” option, choose Mozilla Thunderbird email client, now you can easily view the file.

Convert Outlook MSG to EML/EMLX Online Third party solution

This method can save MSG Outlook to Thunderbird format. It is easy to apply and use. But it includes some disadvantages also, such as Outlook email client are required to perform the task, you cannot convert MSG file attachments into .txt format. It is a time consuming process, not perfect solution when you have multiple MSG files, and also does not convert whole metadata properties of MSG file.
